Katalin Futo

Katalin Futo Katalin is a retired Structural Engineer with a lifelong interest in the visual arts. After early retirement, she started taking evening classes and workshops in drawing and oil painting at the Academy of Art Canada in Toronto, and more recently, at the Aegean School of Fine Arts in Paros, Greece and at the Atelier Villa Bastille in Paris, France.

After moving to Cobourg in 2017, she joined the Cobourg Art Club and The Friday Morning Art Group, as well as the Spirit of the Hills and Pine Ridge Art Association. She truly appreciates the stimulating exchanges and opportunities for learning from so many talented artists. Katalin has also taken numerous workshops that are offered periodically by these associations, in addition to lessons in oil painting from local artists such as Susan Statham and Melanie Browne and in watercolour from Stephen Snider and Greg Maude.

She aims for poetic realism in her drawings and paintings and truly enjoys the moment when a drawing or painting suddenly comes alive.

Katalin enjoys life drawing, portraiture, and still life in her favourite mediums of graphite, charcoal, red chalk, watercolour and oil.

She has exhibited in various art club shows and sales in Ontario.
