Gloria Bales

Gloria was born and raised in Highland Creek, Scarborough, Ontario.

With over forty years' of experience in painting and drawing, portraiture, is what Gloria loves to do the best Her paintings are done in oils, pastels, pencil, coloured pencils and watercolours; of course, she also enjoys painting and drawing other subjects.

She is a vocational arts graduate from Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute, studying art at Durham College, and Danforth Polytechnical Institute.

Being a Commercial Artist for the Sears Company and Toronto Institute of Medical Technology provided her with 10 years' experience in the commercial art industry.

Gloria also worked 16 years for the Pickering Public Libraries. Her activities at the library included teaching drawing and cartooning classes to children, visual displays, flyers and signs, and programming as well as other library duties. Two murals in the children's areas, attributed to Gloria, depicting her animal characters, celebrate reading.

Moving from Pickering Village to Bewdley in 2008, and then to Cobourg in 2018, she has been actively involved in the Pine Ridge Art Association (PRAA) and Cobourg Art Club.
